Sewing Together to Create Connections
“Broderifest i Lustgården”, interactive work on linen with mixed embroidery yarns. In connection with the Kunshantverkcentrum Syd’s exhibition Lustgården during Southern Sweden Design Days 19-22 May 2022.
An 8 m long collaborative embroidery. A linen cloth that already during the creation invites meetings around the work. The cloth ran like a sweep through the room where chairs without tables invited people to sit down and to increase interaction between participants.
To pick up the theme of the exhibition and to lower the threshold for the participants’ co-creation, the cloth was prepared with sheer shapes in green. For four days, I filled the cloth with a garden of stitches together with about 40 visitors.
My role during the event days was mainly as a host in the Lustgården. I welcomed participants, made sure to inspire and encourage them to contribute to the embroidery. I was there for anyone who wanted help or to learn a new stitch.
